Amy

She/Her | Oakland

Amy is the owner and founder at PIINK. Amy is currently living and working in Barcelona, Spain. She returns to the bay every 2-3 months to tattoo at PIINK. You can subscribe to her newsletter to be alerted of travel dates.

Amy is a was born in Berkeley, CA and started tattooing in Portland, Oregon, in 2009. She did her apprenticeship under Rio Degennarro of Oregon’s oldest running tattoo shop, Sea Tramp, before moving to Family Tradition Tattoo. Amy worked under the Eddy family at Family Tradition for five years. Amy then moved to Los Angeles for a year before returning to her home in the bay where she opened up her first shop, Pretty In Ink, in 2015. Amy wanted to create a comfortable and welcoming place to practice her craft and host her clients, and she created that at PIINK. Amy is very proud of what PIINK has become over the years and the amazing artists she has had the pleasure of hosting.

Amy specializes in American Traditional as well as botanical illustration style tattoos. She enjoys dark, weird, feminine, and magical themes. Amy enjoys tattooing flowers, herbs, fungi, fogs, beasties, kewpies,, fairies, mermaids, pin ups, lady faces, and more.

Alex

They/He | Oakland

Alex was born and raised in Oakland, he is an illustrator with a wide range of media under his belt. They specialize in pen and ink work , botanical illustration, figurative/portrait/pin-up styles, and vibrant palettes. Alex earned their degree in illustration from Academy of Art in San Francisco and has been tattooing since 2016.

Jiffy

She/Her | Oakland

Jiffy K Phan was born and raised in Falls Church, Virginia. She moved to Baltimore to study art at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and received her BFA in illustration in 2014, and soon there after moved to the Bay Area in 2015.

Outside of tattooing, Jiffy's art and idiosyncratic characters usually represent the people and situations in her life, mixed with a small amount of imagination. Her main focus in illustration is pointillism and paper-art cutouts. Working in pointillism is what piqued her interest in tattooing, particularly handpoking.

Jiffy started tattooing in 2019, and while she is enthusiastic about tattooing sharks and exaggerated creatures, she is looking to bring in more work based on Vietnamese culture.

Jiffy currently lives in San Francisco and in her free time she enjoys watching wrestling, learning how to swim, and playing with her friends’ animals in Oakland.

Hax

He/They | Alameda

Hax grew up in Southern California and moved to the Bay Area in 2010. He is inspired by zines, folk art, traditional tattoo imagery, weird junk, nature, contemporary tattooing, mason jars, and queer identity. They see their work as whimsical and playful. He dabbles in many crafts outside of tattooing, including embroidery, paper making, and gardening. Hax began tattooing in 2017 and is stoked to have found a home at Pretty in Ink. In his free time he likes to cook and go on trail runs in the hills and hangs out with his dog Twinkle.

Chihua

They/Them | Alameda

Chihua is a nonbinary animator turned tattoo artist who started their apprenticeship in Oakland under O Tattoo's fine line specialist Siri Montra in 2019.

During lockdown they relocated back to Hawaii, giving them the opportunity to explore color and watercolor under the guidance of Lhena Love.

They are now back in the bay looking to reshape their portfolio with bigger black and floral pieces, micro realistic colored projects, and anime/film related ideas..

Theo

He/Him | Oakland

Theo is a queer tattooer, printmaker, and painter working in illustrative, neo-traditional, fineline, and contemporary styles.

Theo is a fourth-year tattooer currently working at Pretty In Ink’s Alameda location. His favorite tattoos to create are medium- and larger-scale custom pieces with a focus on movement and placement, although tiny tattoos fitting into unusual gaps are a close second. He loves freehanding, working in unusual spots, around joints, and with the flow of the body. Much of Theo’s work is botanical or otherwise natural, but he also loves making figurative and abstract work and is hugely inspired by etching and printmaking masters. During his spare time, Theo listens to country music and draws more plants to tattoo!

Flávia

She/Her | Oakland

Flávia was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil and moved to the U.S. in 2017. Flavia enjoys expressing herself through many different mediums including photography, music, and painting. She became interesting in tattooing as a way to make a career in art and be able to travel at the same time. Flávia began working at Pretty In Ink in 2021 and was accepted into an apprenticeship in January 2022

Flávia enjoys making traditional American style tattoos and likes making animal designs as well as fruits, pin ups and lady heads. She is inspired by vintage cartoons and toys.

In her free time Flávia likes to spend time with her cats, going out to eat, going to concerts, and playing Just Dance with friends.

Laine

They/Them | Alameda

Laine was born in San Francisco and (mostly) raised in Alameda. They are a tattooer, illustrator, and character designer with an enormous love of all things cute, scary, and mythical. They like making art for other people to enjoy and connect with on their own terms.

Laine began tattooing in 2022, and is excited to continue to learn and grow as an artist. They specialize in illustrative/linework-intensive tattoos, both in color and black and grey.

Ivy

They/Them | Oakland

Ivy is a queer artist that eats, sleeps, and breathes nostalgia and horror! They believe that nostalgia is one of the greatest tools of connection and self definement and they love bringing that into tattooing! Ivy wears all of their interests quite literally on my sleeve, and it’s been their absolute delight in bringing others’ to life and skin!

Ivy loves to work primarily with neotraditional and full color pieces. They’re excited to bring all nostalgia to life, and especially overjoyed to do that through kewpies and pinups. Their favorite way to spend their time is binge watching shows and rewatching all their fave comedy horror flicks while drawing flash of all of their million obsessions!

Casey

He/They | Oakland

Casey finished their BFA in Illustration from Academy of Art in 2016. Casey began their apprenticeship under Alex in 2021 at our Oakland location. They are taking appointments at apprentice rates and are offering both custom and flash designs. You can see some available designs on Casey’s Instagram, through the portfolio button here.

Casey has a love for illustration and comics, and enjoys topics that range from cute and silly, to dark and macabre. They can regularly be found hiding behind a fantasy novel or drawing something nerdy.

Bry

They/Them | Alameda

Bry is interested in all things flora, fauna, portraits, and mythical, Bry is an artist who loves illustration type work. Tattooing in medium to fine line detail, their work is inspired by a mixture of botanical drawings, Manga, and realism. Bry is interested in tattooing because of its ability to adorn, reclaim, and empower bodies with intention.
